A partially damaged part should be replaced. 

If the damage was caused by the owner’s mishandling or negligence, the part can be replaced at a cost. 

Replacement parts used to show subtle color variations from the replaced parts. It was a generally accepted that such color variations were unavoidable given that JDs are handcrafted and given their reproduction method. 

Also, little can be done to combat the yellowing of JDs that occurs with the passage of time. 

Yellowing, too, is a unique characteristic of JDs.
